When my camera gets to capture special peeps like the D Family, it is a VERY happy camper. Sessions can be anxiety inducing for families, “what should we wear, do we have to pose, my kids won’t smile for cameras, do our clothes have to match, am I going to look too tall/short/overweight/skinny/dark/light/old/out of shape/out of proportion, I don’t want my face retouched, I WANT me face retouched, can you make us younger/thinner/taller/happier, can you make the kids behave…” And on and on. It has all been asked and said in the last 8 years that I have been in business. But the D family, having never shot with me before, was just so different. Yes, they chose matching denim and converse (in different colors) as a reigning theme for their family session. But beyond that, they just relaxed and allowed their personalities to shine, which is so very challenging for families being captured for the first time! The kids followed me to each location, being themselves, while the parents were back at the trailer getting ready–YES a trailer/RV which is SO cool, because they are building a home and living on the property while the home is finished. The more a family is relaxed and having fun, the better the captures will be, hands down! And since the D Family was relaxed, I was able to often be a fly on the wall and just shoot, catching ALL the shenanigans with a photo-bombing dog and a free-spirited toddler! Thank you D Family! You guys were soooo fun and a true testament to love and family!
